The rules for using SPTTD
Last updated: July 28, 2026
These Terms govern your use of SPTTD, operated by Elias Bishop (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use SPTTD.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the higher minimum age required where you live) to use SPTTD. By using it you confirm that you meet this requirement.
2. Your account
You sign in with your email and a one-time code. Keep your account secure and provide accurate information. You’re responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account).
3. What SPTTD does
SPTTD lets you photograph a car, have it identified automatically, and collect it with rarity, levels, and badges. It includes a public map of spots, leaderboards, public profiles, a Gas-or-Pass swipe deck, friends, drive tracking, and shareable proof-of-spot certificates.
4. Your content and acceptable use
You are responsible for the photos and content you submit. You agree not to:
- upload content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or infringes others’ rights;
- photograph people in order to harass, threaten, or expose them;
- upload photos you don’t have the right to use, or that you didn’t take;
- fake, spoof, or manipulate spots, locations, or the AI (including screenshots or images of screens);
- abuse, spam, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the service or other users.
By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display it to operate SPTTD — including on the public map, leaderboards, and public web verification pages — and you confirm you have the rights to grant this. You keep ownership of your content.
5. Moderation, reporting, and blocking
You can report content and block other users in the app. We may review, remove, or restrict content or accounts that violate these Terms, and we may suspend or terminate accounts for repeated or serious violations. We aim to respond to reports promptly. Content is filtered on a best-effort basis and we don’t guarantee we’ll catch everything.
6. Proof of Spot
A proof-of-spot certificate records that a particular account photographed a particular car at a particular time, signed by SPTTD. It is not a legal title to any vehicle or image and does not prove ownership of anything.
7. Safety, lawful use, and assumption of risk
Do not interact with the app while driving. SPTTD is not a navigation or safety device, and drive statistics (distance, speed, route, g-force) are estimates provided with no warranty. The app displays prominent safety disclaimers — including before every recorded drive — and you agree to follow them.
By using SPTTD, you accept that you are solely responsible for your own safety and conduct. You agree to stay aware of your surroundings while spotting or driving, to obey all traffic and other applicable laws, and never to trespass or take risks to photograph a car or record a drive. We do not support, endorse, or encourage unlawful or dangerous behavior of any kind — including speeding, street racing, or trespassing — and, to the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no responsibility for accidents, injuries, damage, or legal violations arising from your use of SPTTD.
8. Purchases and subscriptions
SPTTD offers optional paid passes, including auto-renewing subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase, billed through your Apple App Store account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you can manage or cancel them anytime in your device’s subscription settings. Prices are shown before purchase and may change for future periods. Refunds are handled by Apple under its terms. Free usage limits (such as the daily spot allowance) may change over time.
9. Third-party services
SPTTD relies on third-party services (including Apple, RevenueCat, Expo, Supabase, Vercel, Sentry, and an AI identification provider). Your use of features involving them may be subject to their terms.
10. Intellectual property
SPTTD, including the app, its catalog, artwork, and branding, is owned by us and protected by law. These Terms don’t grant you rights to our IP except to use the app as intended.
11. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of SPTTD, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and CAD $100. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Termination
You may stop using SPTTD and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms.
13. Changes & governing law
We may update these Terms; material changes will be highlighted in the app. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
